Kelly was born in Malaysia and spent most of her adult life in England. In 2013, she arrived in Auckland with a two-year travel plan, intending to return to London afterwards… and she's still here. Kelly’s tango journey began in 2009, when an ordinary person with a 9-to-5 job and no dance background walked into a tango class in the City of London. From that moment, Tango captured her heart, and the love and passion have remained with her ever since. After moving to Auckland, she began travelling regularly to Buenos Aires to continue her tango journey, learning from some of the most respected and inspiring teachers in the world. Beyond the classes, she immersed herself in the culture, engaging in conversations with great milongueros and milonga-hopping most nights until the early hours of the morning. Kelly’s passion is to introduce a new generation to this captivating and beautiful dance and to help grow the tango community. She began teaching tango in 2016 at Auckland University of Technology and now teaches at Pasión Por Tango Studio and Viva Dance Studio. In addition to teaching, Kelly organises milongas, DJs, gives private lessons, guest teacher at events such as Latin Fiesta NZ, and performs by invitation.

For Kelly, Tango is a sensual dance that comes from the heart and complements the music. It is far more than a dance. It is a conversation, a connection, and a continual journey of discovery where less is more.

“Tango has taught me humility through connecting with people from all walks of life. Teaching students ranging from children to those with hearing or vision impairments, and people living with Parkinson’s has deepened my appreciation for the power of connection through dance.
Every student brings something unique to the journey, and I am grateful to learn alongside them."
